TransContainer has published its operational statistics for Q4 and the full year of 2018.
TransContainer carried 501 thousand TEU in Q4, up 8.9% year-on-year. International container traffic was up 20.3%, export up 9.3%, import up 23.4% and transit up 47.1%. Domestic traffic, which makes 45.8% of the aggregate volume carried by TransContainer, declined 2.1% down to 229.7 thousand TEU.
In 2018, TransContainer saw its overall volume grow 6.1% up to 1.9 thousand TEU. International transportation increased 14.3%, including export up by 10.3%, import up by 12.7%, and transit up by 32.3%. Domestic traffic was down 1.9% year-on-year.
The overall growth of the Russian rail container market during Q4 2018 made 16.3% year-on-year. For the full year 2018, the market was up 14.4%.
Container handling at the terminals operated by TransContainer amounted in Q4 to 331 thousand TEU, down 0.1% year-on-year.
During the full year of 2018, the company’s terminals handled 1.3 mn TEU, down 1.1% year-on-year.
