Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 52, 2018

  • In the Sea of Azov, the market corrected a bit last Friday simultaneously with the holidays in Europe. Trade has been suspended by now for Christmas – New Year holidays period.

    Freight rates for laycans within or right after January holidays are trading with some discounts, according to Rufco shipbrokers. There is number of free tonnage on the market, which are looking for employment for these dates.

    Even hot Black sea minibulker segment is showing some signs of decline, rates here have lost a dollar for the first time after more than a month’s rally period.

    Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $29-31 per ton.

    Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $27-29 per ton.

    In the Caspian Sea, rates continue to show slow decline from the highest levels. Regional players do not expect any changes of the situation for the holidays period.

    The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran remain at $45-46 per ton.
