Container Traffic via Baltic Countries’ Ports

  • During January-September 2018 the ports of the Baltic countries handled over 1 mn TEU, up 26.9% year-on-year.

    Klaipeda, the Baltics’ container leader, handled 531.4 thousand TEU, up 57.5% year-on-year.

    Container traffic via Tallinn grew 31.9% up to 184 thousand TEU.

    Ventspils, which had no containers in Janua-ry September last year, this year handled 2.1 thousand TEU.

    Other Baltic countries’ ports saw their container volumes decrease.

    Riga was down 5.5% to 323.9 thousand tons.

    Liepaja lost 24.7% handling 2.5 thousand TEU.
