TransContainer has published its operational statistics for Q3 and the 9 months of 2018.
The overall growth of the Russian rail container market during Q3 2018 made 16.4% year-on-year up to 1,153 thousand TEU.
TransContainer carried 492 thousand TEU in Q3, up 7.6% year-on-year.
The main driver was international container traffic, which grew 13.4%. Import was up 13.4% year-on-year, and domestic volumes, which were declining in Q1 and Q2, increased 1.9%.
During January-September 2018, the Russian rail container market was up 13.6% up to 3,217 thousand TEU. Import grew by 21.7% and transit by 30.7%.
TransContainer saw its overall volume grow 5.1% up to 1,384 thousand TEU in January-September. Export was up 10.7%, import up 9.2%, transit up 26.3%, while domestic traffic declined by 1.8%.
Container handling at the terminals operated by TransContainer amounted in Q3 to 345 thousand TEU, up 1.7% year-on-year.
In January-September, the company’s terminals handled 949 thousand TEU, down 1.3% year-on-year.
