Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 28, 2018

  • It is July and the Azov market is sky rocketing as usual increasing day by day, so yesterday’s figures are already obsolete for today.

    Indeed owners are leading the tide. According to Rufco shipbrokers, end-July freights are quoted even higher.

    Rates eх Temryuk port also have started to gain the weight substantially.

    Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $26-28 per ton.

    Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $24-26 per ton.

    Activity in the Caspian remains quite weak, Iranian owners are showing bullish attitude by asking USD 30 pmt for grain cargoes ex Astrakhan but so far it has not been yet achieved.

    Steel cargo flow is insufficient, the only driver for the growth is cargoes ex Volga ports for Russian flagged tonnage.

    The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $27-29 per ton.
