FESCO has launched a new service for containerized grain using its own regular trains and cabotage services.
According to the company, the first 500-ton shipment was dispatched from Novosibirsk for Magadan and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in June 2018.
By the end of 2018 FESCO intends to carry over 10,000 tons of grains on the route.
The service is provided by FESCO Integrated Transport (FIT), rail transportation is carried out by Trans-Grain, part of FESCO Group operating 3.2 thousand of hopper cars.
FESCO is currently negotiating potential export shipments from Novosibirsk and Altay to China and SE Asia.
During the 2016-2017 agricultural season, Russia doubled its grain export to Southeast and East Asia.
Taking into account the growing demand for imported grain in the region, FESCO estimates the overall potential transportation volume to China only to make up to 15,000 tons a month.
