Russian Grain Export and Import

  • During January-March 2018 Russia exported 9.7 mn tons of wheat and meslin, up 57.6% compared to the same period of 2017.

    According to the RF Federal Customs Service, in terms of value, wheat and meslin export grew 57.2% to $1.7 bn.

    It should be noted that in March wheat and meslin export grew to 3.9 mn tons, 17,7% up the February result.

    Wheat import into Russia amounted to 88.2 thousand tons, up 54.9% compared to the same period of 2017. In terms of value, wheat import into Russia grew 34.8% to $12.4 mn.

    Barley import into Russia declined 92.8% to 3.3 thousand tons, corn import was down 10.2% to 26.7 thousand tons.

    In terms of value, barley import decreased by 93.6% to $0.6 mn, corn import amounted to $109.3 mn, 2.5% below the the same period of 2017.
