Leningrad Oblast government is promoting an idea to develop a free port in Primorsk. Last week, Leningrad Oblast Governor Alexander Drozdenko raised the topic while meeting RF Premier Dmitry Medvedev.
‘We are starting the construction of a major terminal complex in the port of Primorsk. The infrastructure will allow of handling up to 100 mn tons of cargo there. We have discussed this project with the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation today’, A.Drozdenko said after the meeting on Thursday.
‘He has given instructions to provide the new port facilities with rail and road approaches, as well as electricity. We have also discussed the possibility of establishing here a free port, the second in Russia and first in the Baltic’, the Leningrad Oblast Government press service quoted the Governor.
