Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 15

  • The Sea of Azov market continues falling down, but there is a strong likelihood that the recent Russian ruble correction towards USD could revive grain export activity.

Transshipment at Port Kavkaz roads is gathering a lot of Russian flagged vessels and making it hard to find a right candidate for shipping cargoes from mid-Volga ports.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov remain $29-30 per ton and from Yeisk $28-29 per ton.

Freight rates to SE Black Sea ports make $27-28 per ton from Rostov and $26-27 from Yeisk.

The Caspian market mainly calm, but there are already some signs of improvement. Some tonnage has been relocated to STS operations or river cargoes leaving this market segment vacant.

Current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $34-36 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration proceedings.
