  • For three weeks already, freight levels ex Azov Sea river ports are shown. However, the rate fluctuation is actualy quite substantial within the week, but the average level remains unchanged.

The trading activity in the region remains high and it is quite hard to find vessel for loading at Rostov / Azov on spot dates.

According to Rufco shipbrokers, freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $35-36 per ton and from Yeisk $34-35 per ton.

Freight rates to SE Black Sea ports are $33-34 per ton from Rostov and $32-33 from Yeisk.

Meanwhile, the ice campaign has just been canceled for Azov sea river ports and approaches.

Open vessels started to appear in the Caspian market. The coming holidays in Iran should bring the market activity down and are definitely going to correct the rates.

Nevertheless, traders are reporting that overall interest from Iran for Russian grains remains high. A number of shippers have already started checking freight rates to Iran from river ports for April dates.

Freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $37-40 per ton.
