100,000,000th Ton of Crude from Sakhalin-1

  • March 12, Sovcomflot’s tanker “Viktor Konetsky” took on board the 100-millionth ton of crude oil from the Sakhalin shelf oil fields – Chaivo, Odoptu and Arkutun-Dagi.

    According to Sovcomflot, the shipment was loaded at the De-Kastri terminal and is designated for South Korea.

    The export terminal in De-Kastri was put into operation in 2006, it annual capacity is 12 mn tons of oil.

    Chaivo, Odoptu and Arkutun-Dagi oil fields are located on the shelf north-west of Sakhalin and are part of the Sakhalin 1 project operated by Exxon Neftegas Limited, a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil.

    Other stakeholders in the project are the Russian Rosneft, the Japanese Sodeco and the Indian ONGC.

    The deposits of Sakhalin-1 are estimated to make 2.3 bn barrels (307 mn tons) of oil and 480 bn cbm of natural gas.

    Chaivo was put into operation in 2005, Odoptu-sea in 2010 and Arkutun-Dagi in 2015.
