Sea Freight Down, Road Freight Up

  • During January-June 2018, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system grew 6.1% year-on-year to make 3.74 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, road transport accounts for the largest share in the entire volume with 2.45 bn tons, up 7.6% year-on-year.

    Rail cargo volume increased 3.4% up to 644.4 mn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was up 3.7% to 590.1 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume grew 0.8% to 36.8 mn tons, while maritime transport volume declined 16.9% down to 9.8 mn tons.

    Air freight also decreased 1.9% down to 0.51 mn tons.

    In June, rail, pipeline and sea freight were down month-on-month.
