Sovcomflot Man Appointed Vice Minister

  • Yury Tsvetkov has been appointed Vice Minister of transport responsible for shipping and ports. He will also be Head of the RF Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot).

    Governmental decree No 1606-r to this effect was signed on August 2 and published today.

    Prior to this appointment, Yu/Tsvetkov was President of Novoship, part of Sovcomflot Group.

    He graduated from the Admiral Makarov Leningrad Maritime School (now, Admiral Makarov Maritime and River Fleet University) and started his career with Baltic Shipping Company and Unicom.

    In 1996-2008 Yu.Tsvetkov served with the RF Accounting Chamber where he was responsible for the transport segment overseeing inspections of the Transport Ministry, the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport, and shipping companies.

    In January 2008 he was appointed deputy CEO of Sovcomflot and was instrumental in integrating Novoship and Sovcomflot.

    During June 2008 – October 2009 he was Senior Vice President of United Shipbuilding Corp., then returned to Sovcomflot as Deputy CEO, Head of Internal Audit department.

    In 2008-2011 Yu.Tsvetkov was head of the Audit Commission, and since 2011 was member of the Board, Chairman of the Audit Committtee with Novoship.

    In 2012 he was appointed President of Novoship, the position he held until now.
