Container Traffic via Caspian Basin Ports in October 2021 Down 24.8%

  • The total container throughput via the Caspian basin ports in October 2021 declined by 24.8% year-on-year.

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, import decreased by 46.5%, and cabotage by 71.9%.Export grew by 75.5%.

    The share of the Caspian basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in October 2021 amounted to 0.04%.

    Laden container throughput in the Caspian was down 47.7%. Reefer containers were non-existent in October 2021. Imports made 93.3% of all the laden containers, cabotage accounted for 6.7%.

    Empty container traffic increased by 34.8%.

    The port of Astrakhan accounted for 100% of the aggregate container throughput via the Caspian basin ports in October.
