TOP-5 Russian Container Terminals in January-October 2021

  • The total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-October 2021 amounted to 4.6 mn TEU. Five terminals handled more than 2.5 mn TEU or 54.7% of this volume.

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) was the leader in terms of container throughput in January-October 2021. Its container traffic increased by 12.9% year-on-year up to 626.7 thousand TEU.

    First Container Terminal rates the second with 527.9 thousand TEU, down 2.3% year-on-year.

    Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg saw its container traffic decrease by 9% down to 505.3 thousand TEU.

    Container traffic via NUTEP amounted to 453.2 thousand TEU, up 14.7% year-on-year.

    Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company handled 425.4 thousand TEU, up 15.5% year-on-year.

    It should be noted that the highest container throughput growth was via Dalzavod-Terminal in Vladivostok. Its container traffic surged 49.5-fold. Last year, the terminal handled containers in July only. Vladivostok Sea Terminal was up 23.6-fold. This stevedore did not handle containers in January-August last year. Container traffic Port Vostochniye Vorota – Primorsky Plant in Nakhodka surged 6.4-fold.

    The largest decrease in container traffic was in Anroskrym in Port Kavkaz (-63.8%), Directorate for Construction under the Presidential Administrative Department in the Far Eastern Federal District in Vladivostok (-60.7%) and Sea Port of the Troitsa Bay in Zarubino (-60.7%).
