TOP-5 Russian Container Terminals in January-August 2021

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-September 2021 amounted to 4.16 mn TEU. Five terminals handled 2.3 mn TEU or 55% of this volume.

    In January-September 2021 Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) was the leader in terms of container throughput. Its container traffic increased by 14. year-on-year up to almost 558.3 thousand TEU.

    First Container Terminal rates the second in January-September 2021. It handled 474.1 thousand TEU, down 2.1% year-on-year.

    Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg saw its container traffic decrease by 10% down to 446.4 thousand TEU.

    Container traffic via NUTEP amounted to 414.1 thousand TEU, up 17.2% year-on-year.

    Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company handled 392.5 thousand TEU, up 19.6% year-on-year.

    The highest container throughput growth was via Vladivostok Marine Terminal, up 68.4-fold. The terminal did not handle containers during January-August 2020.

    Dalzavod-Terminal in Vladivostok saw its container traffic surge 44.6-fold, and Sevrechflot in Sabetta up 3.3-fold. Sabetta did not handle containers until July 2020.

    The largest decrease in container traffic was in Anroskrym in Port Kavkaz (-63%).
