Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in June Up 16.9%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in June 2021 increased by 16.9% year-on-year. Export grew by 7.7%, import by 35.6%, and transit surged 2.1-fold. Cabotage, on the contrary, declined by 0.2%.

    The share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in June 2021 amounted to 38.7%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 17.4% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 6.6% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 93.4%. Imports made 49.5% of all the laden containers, cabotage 23.9%, exports 20.1% and transit 6.5%.

    Empty container traffic was up 15.5%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 57.6% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in June. Vostochny handled 26.1%, and Korsakov 5.6% of the total.
