Coal and Coke Export in January-February 2021 Up

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, in January-February 2021 Russia exported 27.5 mn tons of coal, up 3.4% year-on-year. In terms of value, coal export amounted to $1.7 bn, down 4.9% year-on-year.

    Coal import during the period under report made 2.8 mn tons, down 20.6% year-on-year, worth $59.8 mn, up 11.4% year-on-year.

    Coke and coal char export in January-February 2021 made 599.3 thousand tons, up 93.8% year-on-year, worth $123.5 mn (up 2-fold year-on-year).

    In February, coal export made 15.3 mn tons, up 8.9% year-on-year and up 25.7% month-on-month. Value-wise, coal export increased by 2.1% year-on-year and grew by 27.7% month-on-month making $931.1 mn.

    Coke and coal char export in February amounted to 318.6 thousand tons, up 2.3-fold year-on-year and up 13.5% month-on-month. In terms of value it was worth $70.6 mn, up 2.4-fold year-on-year and up 33.5% month-on-month.
