Строительство порта «Лавна» планируется завершить к 2023 году

Lavna Port to Be Built by 2023

  • The construction of the new port of Lavna in Murmansk region is to be completed by 2023. The soil bed for the railway infrastructure is 96% ready, the general construction works under the project are 56.4% complete, Murmansk Oblast Governor Andrey Chibis and State Transport Leasing Company MD Yevgeny Dietrich shared in a recently held meeting.

Using the potential of the non-freezing port in the Russian North is a strategic priority for the regional authorities, especially taking into account the Northern Sea Route development, Chibis said. The main task for the time being is building the railway, he added.

According to Dietrich, the new port of Lavna will help attract major investment into Murmansk Oblast and serve as a basis for future development of the Murmansk transport hub with large terminals. State Transport Leasing Company is the major investor into the project, he reminded.

Dietrich added that while the project was initially aimed at building a coal terminal, now the company is considering handling containers in Lavna.
