Primorsk Universal Handling Complex in Leningrad Oblast has obtained an approval of the project to modernize the Primorsk railway station from the Main Department of State Expertise (Glavgosextertiza), the company said in a statement.
The project envisages building additional rails for freight and passenger trains, passenger platforms, parking lots and bus stops in addition to modernizing the station.
The modernization of Primorsk station is part of a larger project implemented by Russian Railways to modernize the 45 km long Vyborg – Matrosovo – Primorsk – Ermilovo railway section in the framework of developing railway accesses to the ports in the Gulf of Finland.
It is planned that freight trains will proceed to Primorsk Universal Handling Complex without stopping at the station.
