Russia’s Krasnoe Sormovo Shipyard is investing 250 mn rubles ($3.4 mn) into technical upgrade of its shipbuilding facilities. The company intends to install unique 6-meter rolls for bending metal sheets and add new vessels its tugboat fleet.
It is also planned to modernize the cranes, presses and other equipment and continue to implement industrial robotics technologies.
The technical upgrade programme is aimed at enabling the yard to build up to 15 vessels a year.
According to Mikhail Pershin, Krasnoe Sormovo, the yard is going to pay for all the new equipment to be acquired this year from its net profit.
Last year, Krasnoe Sormovo delivered to customers 10 RSD59 dry cargo ships and Russia’s first PV300 cruise liner “Mustai Karim”.
