A slight downturn is to be observed in the large-tonnage bulker market in the Baltic. According to Sea Lines ship brokers, most owners prefer to transfer their fleet to the Mediterranean and the Atlantic due to more profitable offers in those regions.
On week 47, freight rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga increased for most destinations.
Thus, rates on the Ust-Luga – Continent – Ust-Luga rates were $16 pmt, rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG made $17.5 pmt.
Rates from Ust-Luga were $30 pmt to West Med rates, and $32 pmt to East Med.
Rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga to the Black Sea amounted to $32 pmt, rates to the Persian Gulf were $35 pmt.
In the small tonnage bulker segment in the Baltic freight rates did not change significantly. A large proportion of the fleet has been contracted, so charterers are facing difficulties finding spot tonnage.
On week 47, freight rates for smaller bulkers from Ust-Luga moved sideways.
Thus, rates from Ust-Luga to Klaipeda were €15 pmt, and those to Riga and Stockholm were €13 pmt.
Freight rates from Ust-Luga to Hamburg made €24 pmt, and to Bremerhaven €25 pmt.
Rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG were €28 pmt, and those to Dublin €37 pmt.
