Container Traffic via Ukrainian Ports in January-October

  • In January-October 2020, the sea ports of Ukraine handled 869.6 thousand TEU, up 7.1% year-on-year.

    By way of comparison, Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk during January-October 2020 handled 628 thousand TEU growing by 1.9%.

    According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 409.3 thousand TEU, up 6.8% year-on-year.

    Import increased by 5.6% up to 421 thousand TEU. Transit container traffic via the major Ukrainian ports grew by 31% up to 39.3 thousand TEU. Cabotage was non-existent.

    Odessa handled 540.4 thousand TEU in January-October, up 1.7% year-on-year.

    Container traffic via Pivdenniy (formerly, Yuzhny) increased by 20.1% to make 203.5 thousand TEU.

    Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 125.3 thousand TEU, up 12.6% year-on-year.

    Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) handled 423 TEU, up 3.2-fold year-on-year.
