TOP-5 Russian Container Terminals in January-October 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-October 2020 amounted to 4.4 mn TEU. Five terminals handled more than 2.4 mn TEU or 55.4% of this volume.

    Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg remains the leader in terms of container throughput. Its container traffic decreased by 13.7% down to 555.2 thousand TEU.

    Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) handled 555 thousand TEU, up 8.7% year-on-year.

    Container traffic via First Container Terminal amounted to 540.3 thousand TEU, down 0.6% year-on-year.

    NUTEP increased its container traffic by 31.9% up to 395.1 thousand TEU.

    Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company handled 368.5 thousand TEU, up 13.2% year-on-year.

    It should be noted that the highest container throughput growth was via Nikolaevsk Commercial Sea Port. Its container traffic surged 6.1-fold. Arctic Consulting Service in Arkhangelsk was up 5.8-fold, Directorate for Construction under the Presidential Administrative Department in the Far Eastern Federal District of Vladivostok up 91.1%.

    Also, astronomical growth figures were demonstrated by stevedores, which had just several containers last year and this year handled many times more, such as Olya Commercial Sea Port (+44,700%) and Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port (+5,700%).

    The largest decrease in container traffic was in Dalzavod-Terminal in Vladivostok (-99%), Vladivostok Sea Terminal (-95.8%) and Vostokmorservice in Vladivostok (-76.2%).
