TOP-5 Russian Terminals’ Chemical and Mineral Fertilizers Throughput in January-August 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the chemical and mineral fertilizers throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-August 2020 amounted to 12.7 mn tons (+5.7%). Chemical and mineral fertilizers accounted for 2.3% of the total throughput.

    Baltic Bulk Terminal is the leader in terms of chemical and mineral fertilizers throughput with 4 mn tons, down 16.3% year-on-year.

    European Sulfur Terminal (Ust-Luga) saw its chemical and mineral fertilizers traffic increase by 59% up to 2.9 mn tons.

    Murmansk Bulk Terminal handled 2.1 mn tons, down 3% year-on-year.

    Chemical and mineral fertilizers throughput via Tuapse Bulk Terminal declined by 15% down to 977.1 thousand tons.

    Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port handled 535.5 thousand tons.

    It should be noted that the stevedores which demonstrated the highest growth did not get into the Top-5. VERP in Port Kavkaz saw its chemical and mineral fertilizers traffic surge 16.7-fold, Anroskrym in Port Kavkaz was up 7.8-fold, Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) was up 66.8%.

    The largest decrease in chemical and mineral fertilizers traffic was in Yeysk Sea Port (-66.3%), Sea Fishing Port in the Big Port of St. Petersburg (-52%) and New Communal Technologies in Ust-Luga (-31.9%).
