On week 38, freight rate for large-tonnage bulkers in the Baltic increased. According to Sea Line ship brokers, the demand for Supramax / Ultramax bulkers grew. Freight rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga went up.
Last week, rates on the Ust-Luga – Continent – Ust-Luga routes were $19 pmt, rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG made $20 pmt.
Rates from Ust-Luga were $25 pmt to West Med rates, and $28 pmt to East Med.
Rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga to the Black Sea amounted to $30 pmt, rates to the Persian Gulf were $43 pmt.
The small tonnage bulker segment in the Baltic demonstrated an opposite trend with freight rates somewhat declining. The number of grain parcels is quite small, though coal shipments for end of September / early October dates are growing. The demand for coal is growing as European companies are gradually resumiig operations.
According to Sea Lines, the rates for 3,000-5,000 dwt bulkers were down on week 38.
Thus, rates from Ust-Luga to Klaipeda were €10 pmt, and those to Riga and Stockholm were €- pmt.
Freight rates from Ust-Luga to Hamburg made €16.5 pmt, and to Bremerhaven €17 pmt.
Rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG were €19 pmt, and those to Dublin €30 pmt.
