Russian Transport Cargo Down in January-July 2020 Down

  • During January-July 2020, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was down 5.6% year-on-year to 4.26 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, down 5% year-on-year to 2.9 bn tons.

    Rail cargo declined by 4.4% year-on-year down to 709.4 mn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was down 9.6% year-on-year to 609.6 mn tons.

    Sea freight decreased by 14.2% year-on-year down to 12.6 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume decreased by 5.5% year-on-year down to 51.1 mn tons.

    Air transport carried 0.6 mn tons, down 3.5% year-on-year.

    In July, cargo transportation volume increased month-on-month by all of the transport modes.
