During January-February 2020, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was up 9.8% year-on-year to 1.23 bn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, up 17.6% year-on-year to 829 mn tons.
Rail cargo volume declined by 2.8% year-on-year down to 199.8 mn tons.
Maritime transport volume decreased by 9.4% year-on-year down to 2.81 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume grew by 15% year-on-year up to 4.6 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was down 4.2% year-on-year to 196.3 bn tons.
Air transport carried 0.15 mn tons, up 4.8% year-on-year.
In February, the only transport modes that demonstrated growth were the road segment and sea freight, cargo transportation by other modes declined.
