Russian Transport Sector Freight up 2%

  • During January-November 2019, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was up 2% to 7.58 bn tons.

    The only segment that grew was road, which was up 3.7% to 5.24 mn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, rail cargo volume declined by 0.8% down to 1.17 mn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was down 0.7% year-on-year to 1.05 bn tons.

    Maritime transport volume decreased by 17.2% year-on-year down to 17.2 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume dropped by 15.6% year-on-year down to 95.9 mn tons.

    Air transport carried 1.03 mn tons, down 3.7% year-on-year.

    In November, cargo transportation by pipe and air increased month-on-month, other transport modes declined.
