Rail Export via Sea Ports UP in 2019

  • According to Russian Railways, the loading of cargo designated for export via Russian sea ports made 308.8 mn tons during 2019 increasing 3.6% year-on-year.

    50.2% of the entire volume is coal growing by 8.6% up to 155 mn tons during the period under report.

    Coal loading designated for South Russian ports surged by 38.7% year-on-year up to 15 mn tons, that to North-Western ports increased by 4.7% up to 54.2 mn tons, and that to the Russian Far East by 7.1% up to 86 mn tons.

    Oil accounted for 26.8% of the total export rail freight, ferrous metals for 7.1%, and fertilizers for 6.8% of the total.

    131.1 mn tons, 3.4% more than in 2018, was designated for the North-West sea ports.

    The Southern region ports accounted for 76 mn tons, up 1% year-on-year.

    Cargo volume loaded for export via the ports of the Russian Far East made 101.7 mn tons, up 5.8% year-on-year.

    In December 2019, export rail cargo loading designated for the Russian sea ports made 27.4 mn tons, up 1.5% month-on-month.
