Russia’s Arctic Ports’ Cargo Throughput

  • In May 2019, cargo throughput via the Russian Arctic sea ports increased by 24.5% year-on-year. Export was up 27.2% and cabotage up 22.7%. Import cargo was non-existent.

    52.2% of the total cargo traffic was crude oil, LNG accounted for 17.6% and coal and coke for 17.1%

    Murmansk

    In May 2019 Murmansk handled 1.3% more cargo than in May 2018. Export declined by 2.5%, while cabotage grew by 13.6% year-on-year.

    Arkhangelsk

    Cargo traffic via Arkhangelsk increased by 2.4% year-on-year. Export was up 1.7% and cabotage up 13.3%.

    Sabetta

    Cargo traffic via Sabetta surged 2.4-fold in May 2019. Export was up 4-fold, and cabotage up 28.8% year-on-year.
