Azov and Caspian Freight Market, week 14

  • The Sea of Azov market is cooling down a bit. Due to currency fluctuations Turkey has decreased trading activities and this also increased number of open vessels and corrected freight rates as well, according to Rufco shipbrokers.

River navigation started since April 1, 2018 in low and mid-Volga ports. Some tonnage might be relocated from Azov to Caspian Sea or vice versa.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov remain $33-34 per ton and from Yeisk $32-33 per ton.

Freight rates to SE Black Sea ports make $31-32 per ton from Rostov and $30-31 from Yeisk.

The Caspian market looks a bit quiet nowadays, but due to dry weather in Iran it is expected that Iranian destinations could be quite active starting from the second half of April.

Current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran are down to $33-36 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration proceedings.
