Russian Transport System Cargo Volume

  • In January-November 2017, Russian transport carried 7,077.4 mn tons of cargo (all modes, all cargo types). This figure is 2.5% above the result for the same period of 2016.

    The largest share belongs to the road segment, which accounts for 4,758.8 mn tons, up 1.8% year-on-year.

    Cargo traffic by rail increased 3% year-on-year to 1,155.7 mn tons, while maritime shipping surged 16.9% to 22.8 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume declined 5.4% to 107.3 mn tons, according to the RF Statistics Agency.

    Air cargo volume grew 7.7% making almost 1 mn tons.

    Pipeline transportation increased 5.3% to 1,031.5 mn tons.
