December 20, the port stations of the October (Oktyabrskaya) Railway unloaded the largest ever number of railcars during the entire history of the railway, 7021 unit.
The daily average in December so far is 6614 railcars, 13% more than during December 2016 and 8% more than at the start of 2017.
In December, delivery of most cargo types to the stations serving sea ports grew. Thus, coal was up 21%, fertilizers up 23%, liquid bulk up 4%, ferrous metals up 16%, ore up 24%, containers up 14%.
Cargo traffic grew most at the Luzhskaya station serving Ust-Luga, it unloaded 3197 railcars a day, 19% above the December 2016 result.
Most of the terminals operating in Ust-Luga saw an increase in cargo delivered by rail. Rosterminal unloaded 35% more, European Sulfur Terminal 80% more, Sea Trade Port of Ust-Luga grew 64%, Ust-Luga Oil grew 5%, and Portenergo grew 21%.
Cargo unloading at October railway stations serving other sea ports also increased, Avtovo (serves St. Petersburg) was up 12%, Murmansk up 6%, Kandalaksha up 30%, Kola up 41%, and Komsomolsk-Murmansky up 47%.
