MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, a leader in global transportation and logistics, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Russia business.
MSC entered the Russian market in 1998, with opening of an office in St. Petersburg. MSC Russia managed to strengthen its position in this new market, largely due to the concerted efforts of the young team and the benefits of building on the company’s international experience.
Alongside the economic development of Russia, MSC expanded its activities: in 1998, it opened an office in Moscow; in 2002, Novorossiysk; in 2006, Kaliningrad; and in 2009, Yekaterinburg. The company branched out in new directions, developed new services, all the while adapting its resources in line with the evolving needs of its customers.
Today, on its 20th anniversary, MSC has achieved key market positions in all ports of Russia where it is represented. The company provides a full range of services, from transportation of cargo requiring specific temperature regimes and logistics of off-gauge and general cargoes, to customized services for specific client needs.
As part of the company’s wider contribution to society, it organizes the Makarov Sailing Cup Youth Regatta within the framework of close cooperation with Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, supports the university’s hockey team, and works with the students. MSC’s Russian representative office provides help to schools, orphanages and charity foundations; a volunteer movement is organized under the auspices of the St. Petersburg office.
Today, MSC Russia is represented primarily by 275 highly qualified employees in five offices across the country, whose skills and commitment reinforce MSC’s reputation as a container shipping industry leader.
