A new serial RSD59 project Volgo-Don max dry cargo ship set sail for trials in the Volga River from Krasnoe Sormovo Shipyard in Nizhny Novgorod, United Shipbuilding Corporation said in a statement.
The yard team and representatives of the classification society supervising the construction will check all the key systems of the vessel.
The trials programme includes testing the vessel’s propulsion system, rudder propellers, navigation equipment, onboard automation system, communication system, as well as its maneuverability and speed in various modes.
The RSD59 project Volgo-Don max dry cargo ships have maximal dimensions allowing to operate in the Volga-Don Channel.
They are designed for transporting general cargo, breakbulk, grain, packaged sawn goods, logs, metal scrap, rolled metal products, high and heavy cargo, coal, as well as hazardous materials.
