The Federal Customs Service notes a significant rise in fresh flower import ahead of Knowledge Day celebrated in Russia on September 1.
In August, almost 9.5 thousand tons of fresh flowers worth 6 bn rubles ($70.45 mn). Flower import grew 29% month-on-month and 39% year-on-year.
Traditionally, the largest share in the total was roses, chrysanthemums, and carnations. Most of them was delivered by road and air.
The major exporters are Ecuador, the Netherlands and China.
