Delo Group has shared its analytic data on containerization rate in Russia.
Measured traditionally, taking into account all commodity types including mass cargo like coal, oil and products, ore, etc. that are not easily containerized, the containerization rate makes about 6.7% in 2026.
Mass cargo excluded, the ‘net’ containerization rate during January-July 2026 is estimated to make 30.5%, up 7 percentage points year-on-year.
Containerization potential is higher for export cargo than that for import, which is highly containerized as it is.
To develop export containerization potential, terminal facilities in cargo origination regions should to be developed, competitive multimodal solutions implemented, and transportation geography expanded.
