Railway fright transportation between Russia and China increased 6% year-on-year in January-July 2026, Russian Railways said in their social media channel.
The 7 months 2026 railway freight amounted to 114 mn tons, a new monthly maximum. Container transportation made 2.1 mn TEU, up 12.5% year-on-year.
Russia to China traffic increased 4.5% year-on-year to 99.6 mn tons including 62.2 mn tons of coal, up 4.5%, 9.5 mn tons of iron ore, up 5.6%, 7.9 mn tons of oil and products, up 7%, 3.6 mn tons of fertilizers, up 15.1%.
China to Russia railway freight grew 17.5% to 14.4 mn tons including 2.9 mn tons of chemicals, up 15.6%, 2.1 mn tons of consumer goods, up 24.3%, 1.4 mn tons of non-ferrous ore, up 21.3%, 1.3 mn tons of cars and parts, up 51.6%.
80.6 mn tons, up 10% year-on-year, was carried via sea ports, and 33.4 mn tons, down 2.6%, via land-based border crossing checkpoints.
