More than 660 tons of melons worth more than 63 million rubles ($740 thousand) was imported to the Urals region during June-July 2026, RF Federal Customs Service said in its social media. This is 11 times above the figure for the same period of 2025.
The major exporter of melons is Uzbekistan accounting for 99% of the entire imports. Plus, more than 5.5 million tons was supplied from China.
Traditionally, melons import peaks in July.
All melon shipments are cleared and undergo phytosanitary control as priority, the Urals Customs Administration said.
