A multimodal logistics center is to be established in Chuvashia Republic on the basis of Cheboksary River Port, the RF Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport said. The project was discussed at a meeting held by Fyodor Shishlakov, Deputy Head of the Agency.
Cheboksary River Port specializes on cargo and passenger transportation, cargo handling, mining and selling non-ore construction materials, and services to fleet.
During the navigation of 2025, the port mined more than 2.6 mn tons of sand and carried over 5.3 mn tons of cargo. And it has capacity to expand its handling activities.
The port operator has developed a project to expand its berth and port infrastructure utilizing the Novocheboksarsk berth that envisages quayside expansion to 450 meters.
A new cargo terminal with a quayside of 622 meters and a storage zone of 38.5 hectares primarily for container handling is planned to be built.
The multimodal logistics hub utilizing rail, road transport and inland shipping is planned to be built in the estuary of the Tsivil River, a tributary of the Volga River.
