Russian Railways have reported 10.9 mn tons of export designated coal carried eastwards in July 2026. This is 8.8% above the result of July 2025.
Domestic coal traffic included, eastward transportation in July 2026 amounted to 13.4 mn tons, up 3.8% year-on-year.
The overall coal traffic by Russian Railways’ network in July 2026 amounted to 27.2 mn tons, up 7.5% year-on-year, including 16.6 mn tons of export designated coal, up 13.3%.
15.3 mn tons of coal, up 18.4% year-on-year, was carried to sea ports. Coal traffic by rail to Russia’s Northwest sea ports made 3.9 mn tons, up 19.7%, that to the Russian Far East sea ports made 9.8 mn tons, up 12.7%, and that to the Southern ports made 1.6 mn tons, up 31.2%.
Coal accounted to 29.5% of Russian Railways’ overall freight in July 2026 compared to 27.4% in July 2025.
During January-July 2026, Russian Railways loaded 193.2 mn tons of coal, up 2.6% year-on-year, including 110.6 mn tons of export designated coal, up 7.2%.
