During January-April 2022, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system remained much on the previous year’s level amounting to 2.29 bn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, up 0.9% year-on-year to 1.48 bn tons.
Rail freight declined by 1.1% year-on-year down to 410.7 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was down 1.9% year-on-year to 385.8 mn tons. Gas pipeline transportation declined by 8.6% down to 195.5 mn tons. The volume of crude oil pipeline transportation increased by 5.9% to 175.3 mn tons and that of product pipeline transportation by 8.4% to 15.1 mn tons.
Sea freight grew by 5.7% year-on-year up to 7.1 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume increased by 2% year-on-year up to 9.8 mn tons.
Air transport carried 0.27 mn tons, down 37.7% year-on-year.
In April 2022, the only segment that demonstrated month-on-month growth was Inland shipping.
