During January-March 2022, the trade turnover between Russia and the countries of the European Union increased by 59.8% year-on-year up to 82.3 bn euro.
According to Eurostat, import from EU countries into Russia was down 8.4% during the first 3 months of 2022 making 18.6 bn euro. Export from Russia to the European Union doubled to make 63.7 bn euro.
In March 2022, European exports to Russia decreased by 51.3% year-on-year down to 3.9 bn euro, while Russian exports to the EU, on the contrary, surged 2.1-fold up to 23.8 bn euro.
In January-March 2022 Russia rated the sixth among the largest importers from the EU after the USA, the United Kingdom, China, Switzerland and Turkey.
Among the largest exporters to the EU countries, Russia ranked the third after China and the USA.
