  • During January-March 2022, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was up 0.7% year-on-year to 1.72 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, up 1.2% year-on-year to 1.1 bn tons.

    Rail freight grew by 0.3% year-on-year up to 308.2 mn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was down 0.8% year-on-year to 299.2 mn tons. Gas pipeline transportation declined by 8.9% down to 153.9 mn tons. The volume of crude oil pipeline transportation increased by 9.1% to 133.7 mn tons and that of product pipeline transportation by 11.7% to 11.6 mn tons.

    Sea freight grew by 20.1% year-on-year up to 5.4 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume decreased by 6.8% year-on-year down to 6.2 mn tons.

    Air transport carried 0.24 mn tons, down 23.8% year-on-year.

    In March 2022, the segment that demonstrated month-on-month growth were road haulage and pipeline.
