Car Import and Export in 2021 Significantly Up

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, Russia’s car import in 2021 was up 39.4% year-on-year to 338.9 thousand units. Truck import grew by 40.2% year-on-year up to 33.8 thousand units.

    In terms of value, car import during 2021 increased by 47.3% year-on-year up to $8 bn. Truck import surged by 89.6% up to $2.3 bn.

    According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, in December 2021, car import was down 15.6% year-on-year and down 6.9% month-on-month to make 24.4 thousand units. Truck import made 3.7 thousand units, up 5.7% year-on-year and up 32.1% month-on-month.

    In terms of value, car import decreased by 5.6% year-on-year and by 5.6% month-on-month to make $631.8 mn in December 2021. Truck import was worth $209.2 mn, up 26.9% year-on-year and up 9.1% month-on-month.

    Russia’s car export in 2021 was up 37.1% year-on-year to 89.1 thousand units. Truck export grew by 9.8% making 13.4 thousand units.

    In terms of value, car export was up 41.7% year-on-year amounting to $1.4 bn. Truck export increased by 9.9% to make $356.1 mn.

    In December 2021, car export grew by 23.5% year-on-year and by 10.5% month-on-month to 8.4 thousand units. Truck export made 1.7 thousand units, up 6.3% year-on-year and up 30.8% month-on-month.

    In terms of value, car export in December 2021 increased by 13.9% year-on-year and by 21.5% month-on-month to make $131.9 mn. Truck export was worth $46.7 mn, up 1.9% year-on-year and up 24.5% month-on-month.
