Atomflot Orders Floating Dock in Turkey

  • Russia’s Atomflot, the operator of the country’s nuclear-powered icebreaking fleet, has signed a contract with Turkey’s Kuzey Star Shipyard Denizcilik Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi for the construction of a floating dock for Project 22220 icebreakers.

    The contract is worth 4.98 bn rubles ($65.7 mn). The dock is to be built and delivered to Murmansk within 29 months, according to Mustafa Kashka, Managing Director of Atomflot.

    The 30,000 ton capacity dock will be at least 220 m long, about 48 m wide with a pontoon about 6 m high. It will be operated by a crew of 30 and have an endurance of 7 days.
