Rates are on the rise. Additional cargoes, which entered the market this week are helping owners to move levels up. Charterers are trying to hold the position and referring to the freight rates for the Rostov – Marmara direction that make $21 or maximum $22 per metric ton, but in the end have to accept and fix at higher levels and take ice dues to their account, according to Rufco shipbrokers.
Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara make $23-24 pmt from Rostov and $22-23 pmt from Yeisk.
Freight rates to SE Black Sea ports are $21-22 pmt from Rostov and $20-21 pmt from Yeisk.
Black sea coasters also follow the upward trend. However, the pace here is smaller than in the Sea of Azov segment.
The Caspian market is still the healthiest place for sea-river owners. The region can be characterised by high demand for open tonnage from all Caspian ports – Astrakhan, Makhachkala, Olya and Aktau. It looks like the same level of activity would persist right till the New Year holidays in Russia.
