Block Train from Moscow to Irkutsk

  • Rail Cargo Logistics – RUS, the Russian division of Austrian Railways’ subsidiary Rail Cargo Group, has launched a regular block train from the Selyatino terminal in Moscow Oblast to Irkutsk. The service is weekly with departures on Wednesday, the transit time is 7 days.

The first train carrying twelve 40’ units loaded with electronic appliances, equipment, consumer goods and other cargo departed from Selyatino on February 27. The service can include door to door delivery.

In Irkutsk, containers will be stripped and stuffed with other goods, mostly, but not necessarily, sawn goods, and sent to China. From there. They will return laden with Chinese goods designated for Moscow, thus completing a round trip without empty runs.

Rail Cargo Logistics plans to expand the service scope to cover other Siberian destinations such as Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk.
