Atomenergomash, the engineering division of Rosatom, has been awarded a contract from Zvezda Yard to supply propeller screws, steering unit, shafts and shafting equipment for Russia’s newest nuclear icebreaker “Leader” under construction.
The equipment will be built by AEM-Propulsion, a branch of Atomenergomash.
The componentry to be built under the contract including an 18 meters long propeller shaft with a 7.5 meters long 10.7-5-ton screw, the plunger steering gear and the 9 meters long rudder spindle has never been manufactured in Russia before.
